Key concepts of the SURFE2R technology

SURFE2R experiments have been shown to work with a wide range of proteins and several differnt types of membrane preparations.

Thin-film gold on glass offers the ideal surface for solid-supported membranes (SSM). SURFE2R sensors usually come with circular gold pads with a diameter of 3 mm.

A hybrid bilayer on the gold surface forms the solid-supported membrane (SSM) of every SURFE2R sensor

Membranes sheets, microsomes, proteo-liposomes and other types of vesicles stably adhere to the SSM. After their integration into a flow system, sensor surfaces are exposed to a rapid solution exchange.
